The Important Role of Mitochondria in Cellular Health
The science on aging has uncovered the critical role mitochondria play in cellular health and has identified this "powerhouse" of the cell as a central factor influencing the aging process.1 A single cell can have hundreds or even thousands of mitochondria, which act to convert nutrients from our diet into energy, supporting cellular bioenergetics in our muscles and other organs throughout the body.2 Efficient functioning of our mitochondria is important for muscle strength and stamina as we age.3
Learn how the specialized cellular nutrient, Mitopure™ Urolithin A, helps tune up the powerhouses within your cells to help keep them functioning efficiently.
What Are Mitochondria?
Mitochondria produce more than 90% of the cellular energy needed each day. In addition to their role in bioenergetics, mitochondria are also important for cellular signaling1 (how cells communicate) and adapting to cellular stress.
Where Do Mitochondria Work?
Mitochondria are found in greater numbers in tissues with high energy demand, such as muscle, heart, and brain.5 That's why these organs can be most affected by declines in mitochondrial efficiency as we age.5 Mitochondrial dysfunction is considered an important factor in age-related declines in muscle strength and physical function.3
Why Does Mitochondrial Function Decline With Age?
Many factors can contribute to declines in mitochondrial health, including poor dietary choices, sedentary lifestyle, and environmental stress. These can cause our mitochondria to become damaged and less efficient. Our cells have certain quality control systems in place to deal with underperforming mitochondria, but these systems become less effective as we age.1
One such quality control system is a process called mitophagy, which works to selectively remove dysfunctional mitochondria so they can be replaced by new ones. Declines in this process during aging can allow for accumulation of poorly functioning mitochondria within cells.1
Mitopure™ Urolithin A fuels the powerhouses within cells to keep them functioning effectively
Mitopure™ UA is a novel nutrient that is clinically shown to activate mitophagy and renew mitochondrial function in muscle cells of older adults. Efficient mitochondrial function is important for muscle strength and stamina.
What is origin of Urolithin A?
Urolithin A (UA) is a novel cellular nutrient that is clinically shown to activate mitophagy and renew mitochondrial function in muscle cells of older adults. Efficient mitochondrial function is important for muscle strength and stamina.
When synthesized from our diet, UA is a metabolite formed by gut bacteria when we eat foods containing ellagitannins - a type of polyphenol, or beneficial plant compound, found in foods like pomegranates, nuts, and berries. However, even eating these foods, only about 1 in 3 people have the gut bacteria needed to efficiently transform ellagitannins into UA.6 Adding a UA supplement directly bypasses this step and has been to shown to effectively increase UA levels.6,8
Why is Urolithin A Important as we age?
As we grow older the quality control process called mitophagy slows and can lead to the accumulation of poorly functioning mitochondria, which can impact muscle function. 7 Clinical studies show that Urolithin A increases in the blood shortly after consumption of Mitopure™ UA, activating mitophagy and improving markers of mitochondrial function within muscle cells after 4 weeks of daily use.6,8

A new range of supplements and nutritional beverages formulated with targeted cellular nutrients to help fight key sources of age‐associated cellular decline and promote cell health. As we age, so do our cells. Celltrient™ is designed to go deeper with targeted nutrients to help transform how cells perform with age. Traditional micro and macronutrients meet basic nutritional needs. However, they are generally not enough to combat the declines of cells' natural processes. Celltrient™ is:
- Backed by Science
-Precisely formulated to address 3 major sources of cell aging
-Made to work in harmony with the body's natural processes
-Contains cellular nutrients that go to work deep inside cells to help renew and restore cells' natural processes
Celltrient™ works with your body’s natural processes to promote cell health, cell by cell to revitalize and renew your cells’ natural processes. The product range features cellular nutrients that help replenish NAD+ important for natural energy production, renew the power plants in muscle cells and replenish essential building blocks for the protective antioxidant Glutathione.
Naturally occurring Urolithin A (UA) is a metabolite formed by gut bacteria when we eat foods containing compounds called ellagitannins - a type of polyphenol found in plants like pomegranates, berries, and nuts. Only around 40% of the people have the gut bacteria composition needed to efficiently transform ellagitannins into UA. Celltrient™ Cellular Strength contains Mitopure™ UA, which is identical in structure to naturally occurring UA.
Celltrient™ Strength is made with natural flavors. These ingredients will contribute to a [fruity raspberry pomegranate flavor] [citrus lemon flavor]
This product also contains magnesium to support normal muscle function.
The cellular nutrient, Urolithin A (UA) ingredient is not soluble in water, so it's normal to see some particles after mixing. Celltrient™ Cellular Strength Drink Mix was specially formulated to create a thicker solution that helps keep UA from settling out. It is recommended to consume Celltrient™ Cellular Strength immediately after mixing preparation.

However, even if you eat these foods, only 1 in 3 people have the gut bacteria needed to efficiently transform ellagitannins into UA. Supplementing UA directly can bypass this step and effectively increase UA levels.
Celltrient™ Cellular Strength Drink Mix provides an excellent source of magnesium to support normal muscle function. Magnesium is important for the cellular processes that help muscles contract and relax.
Clinical studies show UA is bioavailable and increases in the blood shortly after consumption. Benefits on markers of mitochondrial function and mitophagy in muscle cells of older adults have been observed after 4 weeks of daily use.
Our strength Drink Mix also contains magnesium and offers an alternative way to consume our product if you prefer not to take pills. However, the recommended daily serving ensures that you get the same amount of our cellular nutrient, Urolithin A (UA) to help activate the natural processes your body uses to renew mitochondria in muscle cells.
