What Is NAD+ and where does it come from?
NAD+ is an important molecule found inside every living cell. NAD+ plays a critical role in cellular energy production, and is also required for normal mitochondrial function, cellular stress response, and DNA repair.²Our bodies can synthesize NAD+ from dietary precursors found in foods containing various forms of niacin (vitamin B3) or the amino acid tryptophan. These precursors differ in how efficiently they are converted to NAD+.³
Why is NAD+ Important As We Age?
Research has shown that NAD+ levels decline by up to 50% between the ages of 40 and 60 years. This is related to impaired NAD+ synthesis as well as increased NAD+ demand for processes like DNA repair.⁴⁻⁵

NR is efficiently converted to NAD+ within cells, while the process to turn other forms of niacin into NAD+ can be slower or more complex. ‐ UA is a metabolite formed by gut bacteria when we eat foods containing compounds called ellagitannins – a type of polyphenol found in plants like pomegranates, berries, and nuts. However, even if you eat these foods, only 1 in 3 people have the gut bacteria needed to efficiently transform ellagitannins into UA

Urolithin A (UA), found in Celltrient™ Cellular Strength, was evaluated in a randomized, doubleblind, placebo‐controlled trial in healthy older adults. Daily supplementation with UA for 4 weeks improved markers of mitochondrial function and increased markers of mitophagy in skeletal muscle. A second clinical trial with UA was recently completed, and showed improved hamstring muscle strength in healthy, overweight adults consming UA daily for 4 months.
